Input Requested - Being Frugal during Changing Seasons of Life!

Being frugal is not always easy. For the past three months, I have clipped maybe 10 coupons (which is nothing for me), have looked at store sales perhaps 4 times, and have done the shopping even less. If you know me or have read my blog for any length of time, you would know that these things are some of my favorite things to do. I LOVE saving money. However, for the past three months, I have also been experiencing almost constant nausea, vomiting and exhaustion which has made my usually frugal self kind of jump out the window (well, not completely).
I am so grateful for a wonderful husband who has been doing a lot of the shopping and cooking and has gotten me take out when I needed it. He is amazing. Everyone keeps telling me to simply enjoy this season of life, but I do wish I could do more to help. I'd really love it if anyone, especially moms, could give some input as to easy meals to make that were good when you were pregnant. I'm having a hard time eating meat right now and my stomach is very touchy, so it has really limited my choices and I have run out of ideas. This is our first child, so this is all very new to me! I am very thankful for this child and this season of life, I just feel so different. My husband is wondering when I'm going to go back to CVS! It better be soon because the toilet paper I stocked up on in October is almost gone!
Thank you for your input. I really do appreciate you all.

P.S. This is NOT my belly yet! I'm only 13 weeks! : )
P.S.S. Right after I posted this, I found this great post at Keeper of the Home. Isn't it great how your fellow bloggers can enhance your life???

Three meatless meals that came to mind are baked potatoes, pot pie and spaghetti. Just remember that this is only for a season. Although at the end of it you might be so tired of eating a certain meal! (I didn't fix baked potatoes for awhile...I got tired of eating them! :-)

Thanks Carrie! Baked potatoes are my #1 fav food right now, although I do confess to having Wendy's more often than cooking my own. Pot pie and spaghetti sounds good too.

I'm so happy for you, Jenny. I'm sorry I don't have any food tips for you though! :)

Congrats on your new blessing to come! What an exciting time. Protein is so important right now and for the rest of your pregnancy, so keep that in mind. Eggs come to mind as something quick and easy to eat. Veggie fried rice. If you do baked potatoes add some cheese for protein. Also if you get a hold of some good protein powder smoothies are a good way to go. And when you do feel well enough to cook, make extra and freeze it. Then you have something to fall back on.Hang in there, it is all worth it.

I know how hard this time can be. With my first child, I went through extreme morning sickness. Being a vegan, I might have a few ideas for you. Currently, I am having fruit smoothies with added protien powder. (I don't do soy, so I use rice, wasn't sure if you did) And home-made cereal. Lunches are salads of all kinds and sandwiches. Then dinners are soups, stews, and pastas. Right now the best cook book that has been pregnancy friendly for me is Vegan Lunch Box. Hope this helps! Oh and Earth Mama teas! ;)

I wouldn't worry about it too much. The good thing about being frugal most of the time is that it can carry you through those "sometimes" when it's difficult to be frugal. Anyway, I have a frugal blog too: ideasforfrugalliving.com. Feel free to visit anytime. Congrats on your baby! -Tessie, The Frugal Lady

Hi, I saw your question about natural birthing over at MomofLittles. I had my first 10 months ago, and had a natural birth without pain meds. My recommendation would be to have someone knowledgeable there WITH you in the room who can be with you through the process. A class may be helpful, but having someone right beside you reassuring you and coaching you on how to breathe right at the moment is invaluable. We were fortunate enough to have a friend who is a doula with us, and without her I'm not sure I could have done it! Just a thought. Goodluck!
